A Humanitarian Organization-Voice of Change Network International organized its first International Change Agents Award Conference at its corporate headquarters in Lagos recently.
Speaking at the occasion with the theme “Networking and Synergy among Change Agents, the Key to Greater Effectiveness in Vision Actualization”, the President of the organization, Mr. Gregory Azemobor stated that the vision of the organization is to promote and propagate the virtue of love amongst humanity. He added that the organization’s main aim is to create a world where humanity lives in alignment with God’s purpose, values, and principles, emphasizing that “the purpose of God creating us is to add value to humanity, so that society will be a better place to live in”.
He pointed out that humanity had not been fair to God and His creation as a result of deviation from the objective of creation, noting that “what we experience globally is total expression of hatred, wickedness, and lack of love amongst ourselves”. He reiterated that for society to be conducive for humanity, humanity needs to practically demonstrate love in all ramification”.
Azemobor blamed the increase in crime on the neglect and abandonment of the less privileged by the wealthy elites, which according to him “is total aberration of God’s plan by humanity”. He stated that the mission of the network is to help people discover their true purpose for effective living; to teach and inculcate godly values and principles for true success; to provide for the needy, and to give hope to the hopeless. He went ahead to explain that the rationale for organizing the Award Conference is to globally bring together Change Agents so as to harmonize creative ideas in order to achieve common goals and objectives, and to recognize and identify genuine Change Agents that have contributed selflessly to making life easier for the less privileged, and humanity at large.
The climax of the conference was the award given to the first recipient of the award, Rev Mrs. Sophy Mbanisi, president of Healing Hearts Foundation, an organization committed to helping the widows, aged, and less privileged children. Mrs Mbanisi expressed delight at being the first recipient of the meritorious award. According to her, “I’m amazed at this award. It’s a great honour. I initially thought it was those sham awards that would require some financial gratification before you qualify for it, but it wasn’t. This is an indication that there are patriotic Nigerians among us”.
Mrs Mbanisi promised to work assiduously with the Network and other organizations that are truly working selflessly to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged.
Similarly, Mr. Austin Edoho, the vice president of the organization emphasized the future projects of the organization, adding that efforts are already in place for the commencement of VOC radio and VOC television which will help to promote, report, and celebrate good people, organizations, events, and moral values that will help to positively transform society.
The occasion was well attended by dignitaries from various sectors of the economy. Amongst them were non-governmental organizations, the business world, the clergy, and media practitioners. The next award conference comes up on the 3rd of October, where the next recipient would be Mrs. Chioma Ohakwe, the founder of Bethesda school of the Blind.
