Yusuf Saleh, a 15-year-old boy has been arrested by the Zamfara state police command after he disguised himself as a girl and sneaked into the female hostel at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Gusau, in the state.
Yusuf had sneaked into the hostel on Wednesday, October 14, about 6am so that he can catch a glimpse of the naked female students while they were bathing in an open place, Daily Trust reports.
Unfortunately for him a female student caught him in the act. His actions threw the school into pandemonium as the students thought he was a member of the terrorist group, Boko Haram who was there to attack them.
Maryam Ibrahim, the president of the Student Union Government of the college, said Yusuf was spotted wearing a wrapper, Hijab and a headscarf.
She noted that one of her colleagues who was able to reveal his true identity drew the attention of other students and he was handed over to the school’s security personnel.
Yusuf during the interrogation said he dressed as a female so he can avoid being denied entry into the hostel, adding that he was just there to see how the hostel looked like.
DSP Sanusi Amiru, the state police public relations officer confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing and that the suspect would be charged to court soon.
In recent time, Boko Haram insurgents have dressed up as females to either carry out attacks undetected or to escape from law enforcement agencies.
Six months ago the Nigerian army arrested a suspected male member of the group, in Kwaya Kusar area of Borno state disguised as a lady in Hijab as he made for the market.
