The alleged mastermind of the Independence Day bombing in 2010, Charles Okah, has died in Kuje prisons where he has been held in custody for a number of years now.
That twin bomb blast on October 1, 2010, which was the first to be witnessed in Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, left scores dead and many more injured.
Quoting “sources close to the prison administration,” source said that Okah died in prison custody shortly after returning from a scheduled court appearance.
Although the information surrounding his alleged death remains sketchy, there are indications he may have died of suicide.
Just yesterday, Charles Okah had attempted to kill himself while at the court house – for a court appearance.
A security agent who spoke to source regarding the handling of high priced suspects as Charles Okah indicate that he might have also died from mismanaged interrogation by prison officials and other government investigators
