Actor Femi Jacobs, best known for his as ‘Mr M’ in the Rita Dominic produced movie The Meeting today shared his
thoughts on finances, how he feels people should have more courtesy on dates, how weddings should not cost an
arm and a leg, and how there should be financial honesty in marriages. He wrote via Twitter.
Dating
“Whoever says “let’s go out” pays. Isn’t this simple? But I do feel the other person should offer to chip in. Its courtesy
I think.”
“If someone invites you out, wait for them to order first. Then stay within their range as per cost. Don’t aim to outdo
them.”
“Don’t go out if you don’t have anything in your pocket. Find a way to avoid it. What if their card doesn’t work? It
would be mighty awkward.”
“With going out, don’t eat for free what you can’t pay for. You should always have reciprocity in mind. That’s how to
be respectable.”
Wedding
“The average budget for weddings these days I’m told is between 8-12M. Achuuuu!”
“As per wedding cost, we all seem to demonstrate common sense, until it’s our turn that is. Caution escapes and we
break the bank.”
“Even couples with shaky finances do not opt for a simple “ceremony.” They want a hall, decor, musical band, catering
of assorted dishes. Toh”
“If we can’t demonstrate independence in wedding finances how independent is the home we are building?”
Marriage
“Conversations around finances for couples are awkward because maybe the man has exaggerated his income during
dating.”
“If the woman you’re marrying doesn’t know how much you’re earning, what exactly does she know about you?”
