Mrs Buhari Urges Borno, Adamawa, Yobe Govs To Urgently Assist Malnourished Children In IDPs Camps

The Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari, has launched a passionate appeal to the Governors of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States, to urgently do something about the nutritional status of babies and children in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in their various states.

Mrs. Buhari said she is grieved as a mother that children could be going through such appalling conditions in their own country.

In a statement on Wednesday, the wife of the president noted that malnutrition rates for children are at a serious level in these IDPs camps, where large number of people displaced by the Boko Haram insurgency are gathered.

“It is important to note that even under normal circumstances, children have specialized nutritional needs. This in effect underscores the importance of highly specialized nutritional support for this category of children”, she said.

Mrs Buhari further hailed Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State for donating N150 million to the Governments of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe to assist them in the rehabilitation of IDPs.
