Police Arrest Olu Falae's Kidnappers

Five out the 12 men who abducted the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, have been arrested.

Though, the police were yet to confirm the arrest of the suspects as at the time of filing this report, a competent source close to the family told ThisDay that three of the suspects were arrested yesterday in Niger State.

According to the source, the other two were arrested elsewhere within last week.

The source, who could not give further details about the arrest, said security operatives were still
hunting for other members of the gang.

He said the arrested suspects were being kept at the custody of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) in Akure, Ondo State capital.

When contacted on the development, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr Femi Joseph, who neither denied nor confirmed the arrest, said it was the Inspector General of Police that can talk on  the matter.
“The IG had taken over all issues relating to Falae. The issue of Falae is a national issue that IG will speak on. The commissioner said it is a matter that only IG can speak on. The IG is likely to brief journalists on the matter tomorrow (Monday),” Joseph said in a telephone interview.
Falae, who is also a former Minister of Finance, was abducted on September 21 on his farm at Ilado village in Akure North Local Government Area but released 72 hours later.
