FACEBOOK HAS A HIDDEN MESSAGE INBOX THAT YOU NEVER KNEW EXISTED UNTIL NOW

You may have some explaining to do to people who contacted you via Facebook and never got a response. Not because you’re rude, but because you didn’t know their message existed in the first place.

HelloGiggles revealed that Facebook has a hidden message inbox that you were likely unaware of. Until now. Whether or not this ignorance is bliss depends on how you feel about the sender and the subjects of those “lost” messages.

That old high school ex who was looking to reconnect?
The grade school BFF who moved cross-country when you were seven and suddenly dropped you a line?
The person you’ve never met who felt it was totally appropriate to drop you a “Hey baby!” query? You may never have seen those notes due to this special Facebook filter, which weeds out messages much like your email spam filter.
However, legit emails are often incorrectly flagged as spam. Therefore,  you are bound to find some notes in this sub-inbox that you would have preferred to receive in your main one.

Here’s how to find this buried inbox.

Go to the Facebook Messenger app. Click “Settings,” scroll down to “People,” click on “Message Requests,” click “See Filtered Requests,” and get ready for an avalanche. Personally, I had hundreds of messages dating back to 2011. Many were from people I would have replied to, but most were not.

Guess what you’ll be doing this weekend? At least you’ll have an excuse for the person who you unwittingly left hanging. And now you know why you may have dealt with crickets after contacting someone via Facebook.
