Lecturer of biotechnology at Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State, Sylvia Uzochukwu, has alerted Nigerians against unrestrained consumption of catfish pepper soup.
Professor Uzochukwu, who said this while delivering the 41st inaugural lecture of the organization, revealed that there were a great deal of wellness risks fundamental in the unrestrained intake of catfish. This, she stated, was because catfish does not have the much-needed omega3 oil.
She claimed the oil is good for human wellness. Rather than eat catfish, she advised Nigerians to eat sardine, which, based on her, had higher focus of omega 3 oil.
In the lecture titled “Biotechnology Capacity Building: The Gateway to Food Security,” the professor also canvassed for enhanced food safety through biotechnology.
She lamented Africa’s error to join the eco-friendly revolution, in addition to the brand-new gene development. This, she stated, might be done by spending more on farming research and advancement, especially in Nigeria
