WizKid dropped his new joint, Expensive Shit amid some seriously high expectations. Considering the amount of buzz he’s been getting in 2015, we were all patiently waiting for this tune to drop along with his collabo with Chris Brown. On first listen, the song to me brings mixed feelings.
On one hand you have a ridiculously sick beat (by Sarz), nice melody and A+ standard production, but on the other hand WizKid dips into his bags of cliche lyrics, and uninspiring verbiage. So although the song is a new song, and sounds new, it kinda feels old. With the same ole lyrics like “we dey to my house together, make you carry go“…. or “the way you shake, dey make me crase,” you can hardly feel like Wizzy is even trying to do anything different lyrically. With that being said, as
lyrically devoid as his single, In My Bed, was, it still still turned out to be a mainstream hit. So with this new tune, Expensive Shit, you just can’t tell where it’ll land. But we know WizKid tunes have a way of going into hits, and with the melody, beat and production of this tune, it could very stay in that area.
