Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has advised traditional rulers in the state to be fair and transparent in dealings with their subjects.
He gave the advice over the weekend while presenting staff of office to two monarchs in the state.
The newly crowned monarchs are; His Royal Majesty (HRM) Oba Oluwadare Bamigbade, Elerio of Erio Ekiti and HRM Oba Sulaiman Aladejuyigbe, Alawo of Awo Ekiti.
Presenting the staff of office and instrument of appointment to the two monarchs, Governor Fayose advised them to make the interest of their subjects a priority.
He warned civil servants and political office holders to stop meddling in chieftaincy processes to avert crisis.
The two monarchs in separate speeches sued for peace at their various domains and promised to extend hands of fellowship to other contestants, so as to allow peace to reign in their various communities.
Earlier, the state commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Kola Kolade disclosed that all the processes in line with the chieftaincy law were followed with the support of the king-makers before selecting the new Obas.
Some of the indigenes of the two communities congratulated their new monarchs and assured them of their total support.
With these two new monarchs been presented with their staff of offices, total number of monarchs presented with such paraphenalia of offices in the last one year by the state governor, Ayodele Fayose has increased to eight.
Fayose however declared that the selection and appointment of monarchs in the state has been done with transparency and fairness to all parties by both the King-makers and the government.
It would be recalled that youths in their hundreds last week trooped-out to the streets of Awo Ekiti to protest alleged imposition of a traditional ruler on them as Alawo of Awo Ekiti.
