Zulqarnain Abdul-Rahim, the chairman of the investment committee of Abuja Muslim Forum (AMF) has said that Boko Haram fighters have half knowledge about Islam which is why they are terrorising the country.
Leadership reports that Abdul-Rahim said this in Abuja during the commemoration of the Islamic New Year. He said wrong understanding and application of the religion was the cause of extremism.
The committee chairman said the unavailability of Islamic institutions in Nigeria was also not impressive as he claimed good scholars were trained abroad.
He said: “Those who studied Islamic Studies as a degree, if checked the quantum of their knowledge is very little and also they are not exposed to leadership and management. They know only about religious teaching,”
Muhammad Shehu, the assistant secretary general of AMF said Muharram, being the first month of the Muslim calendar was a significant one worldwide.
“The significance of Hijrah to nation building, when the Prophet (SAW) arrived to Madinah a government was set up and the bill of right and the constitution was also set up every
person living in Madinah.
“The bill of right from the community in Madinah which comprises the Muslim, Jews and others was practicalised and everybody has it right to spot out of him without molestation and hindrance,” he said.
