Akande urges Buhari to deal with Aluko for blackmail

– Hon. Akande says Aluko must be arrested and made to face the music for his statement

– The Lagos lawmaker says he should serve as a deterrent

– He urges Buhari to deal with him to prevent the rise in blackmailing

The revelations of former secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, Dr. Temitope Aluko, on how the party, through the help of former president Goodluck Jonathan, rigged in Governor Ayodele Fayose, has continued to generate reactions. In this interview with naij.com, Hon. Victor Akande, a member of the PDP and representative of Ojo constituency 1 at the Lagos state house of assembly, gives reasons why Aluko should be prosecuted. He also speaks on other issues concerning the country.

On the issue of the PDP whistle-blower, the PDP lawmaker said Aluko deserves to be arrested and
prosecuted so that he would serve as a deterrent to other people.

“If Mr. Tope Aluko, with all apology and due respect, knows the implication of what he did, he would not have done it. He was one of the high ranking witnesses of the Ekiti governorship election at the tribunal. If he knows the meaning of being a witness, where he testified that whatever he would say would be the truth, nothing but the truth and asked God to help him, he would not do what he did. He said this to all Nigerians and whatever he is now saying, he has perjured. He doesn’t know the meaning of perjury, if he knows the meaning; he would not have done it. He was lying under oath, indeed, the man is insane. It is like putting a rope on his head, he should be arrested and he should face the music. The matter has gone through the necessary legal warfare; the tribunal, appeal and the Supreme Court. The story is belated. He is talking about some money somewhere; he should go and produce the money. It is no longer Governor Fayose issue now.”

“The period the electoral act allows to revisit the case in the court of law is over. There is nothing anybody can do about the Ekiti election again. The man should be punished to serve as a deterrent to others so that, when you have such information, bring it to the people and let them know. You hoard it and lied under oath, it is perjury.”

Akande said he agreed with Fayose that Aluko might have been recruited by the opposition party and should therefore not be taken serious.

“He (Akande) has lied to Nigerians, whatever he is saying now; we should not take him serious again. May be he wanted money and he has been promised some money and the money did not come. May be he was promised position and he was not given, he now felt that the only thing he could do was to lie against the governor of his own state. May be he wanted to go to the ruling party, the APC and he wanted them to say he has done well, which is why I said he should be checked.”

The honourable said he expects President Buhari to deal with Aluko so as not to allow blackmailing to thrive in Nigeria.
“If truly he is the President Muhammadu Buhari that I know, Aluko should be arrested for lying to Nigerians. If you allow this one to go, another person would still come and say this and this happened. It is as if we want to allow blackmailing to thrive in Nigeria. Someone once did it to me because he wanted money.”

Meanwhile, Aluko claimed his life is under threat and claimed Governor Fayose was behind the death threats he was receiving. He said he narrowly escaped from the hands of fake security men.
