Man Utd’s Louis van Gaal won’t make Netherlands return – reports

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has turned down an approach by the Dutch football association (KNVB) to become Netherlands’ new technical director, according to British newspaper reports.

Last week it was reported that the KNVB wants to appoint Van Gaal as technical director of the country’s new football centre of excellence, which is due to be completed this summer.
The Dutchman, who was in charge of his nation at the 2014 World Cup, has an uncertain future amid speculation that he could leave United before his contract expires in 2017 due to a mixed season and the possibility of Jose Mourinho replacing him.

However, the Daily Telegraph and The Times report that Van Gaal will not be returning to the Netherlands’ international setup this summer following assurances over his future at Old Trafford.
Last year, the 64-year-old vowed to retire in 2017 and promised his wife his current contract with United will be his last.
