ANGELINA JOLIE has been appointed visiting professor in practice at the London School of Economics on a new MSc course on women, peace and security, the first of its kind in the world.
"It is vital we broaden the discussion on how to advance women's rights and end impunity for crimes that disproportionately affect women, such as sexual violence in conflict,"
Jolie said of the course, reports The Guardian. The appointment will once again see her team up with former foreign secretary William Hague, who is also a professor at the university.
The one-year course will commence this September and will see Jolie and Hague teach at least once a year, "as often as their schedules, and their commitment as agreed with the centre director, will allow", according to a statement from the institution.
The pair were said to have been given their roles as they have "appropriate distinction within their area of non-academic practice".
Jolie and Hague have worked together on a number of special UN initiatives. Last year, the former politician revealed that it was Jolie who encouraged him to step down from his role in government to join her in the crusade against preventing sexual violence in conflict.

"I am looking forward to teaching and learning from the students, as well as to sharing my own experiences of working alongside governments and the United Nations," she added.

"Angelina has done so much. She is very, very knowledgeable about this," he said at the time. "She is incredibly dedicated to the cause. The film [The Land of Milk and Honey] helped bring everything together for me. If we know so much about the crimes that are being committed, how can we not act?"
