Beckham, who joins the select group of men, including Chris Hemsworth and Adam Levine, who have been so honoured, was given the recognition on a live show on Tuesday, though he joined in via video call.
The ace footballer, who was immensely popular for his trademark free-kicks could not hide his surprise at such recognition, saying: “I can’t believe it.”
While stating that he felt honoured to have been considered, the husband of her Spice girl, Victoria, said: “It’s the best moment of my career.”
Beckham is the 30th man to be so honoured by People Magazine.
