3 OATMEAL BREAKFAST RECIPES THAT ARE WORTH WAKING UP FOR

Love oat’s but other than me, very few people want oatmeal as their breakfast meal, its usually at the bottom of their list. We know oatmeal is good for our health and that’s one of the reasons some people still have it in their cupboards but today am going to show you 3 oatmeal recipe’s that are healthy and worth waking up for;

Apple & Raisins Steel-Cut Oat

What you’ll need;

¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
1 apple, peeled, cored and grated
3 cups water
1 cup (2% or 1%) milk
1 tbsp. unsalted butter
1/3 cup raisins
¼ cup maple syrup
1 cup steel-cut oats
¼ tsp. salt


What to do;
* Mix water and milk into a medium saucepan, allow it simmer.
* Melt botter in a 10 or 12 inch skillet over medium heat then add the toast and stir until it becomes golden and fragrant. This would take two minutes.
* Add the toasted oat into the water and milk mixture and stir, reduce the heat to a medium low and continue to stir till it thickens. this may take up to 10-20 minutes.
* Stir in the maple syrup, salt, cinnamon, apple, raisins.
* Stir until all liquid has been absorbed and it becomes creamy.
* Remove and let it stand for 5 minutes before serving.






Quinoa & Coconut Milk

What you’ll need;

1 banana, chopped
1/3 cup toasted pecans, chopped
1/2 cup dry quinoa, rinsed
pinch of salt
3/4 cup canned lite coconut milk + more for drizzling
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon + more for sprinkling


What to do;

* Stir into a small sauce pan, Quinoa, cinnamon, vanilla and coconut milk and bring to boil.
* Reduced to low-medium heat and let it boil for 15 minutes until the quinoa can be fluffed with a fork.
*Serve with pecans, raisins, bananas and a few drizzle of coconut milk.




Coconut Oatmeal

What you’ll need;

3/4 cup coconut milk
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup ground flax (optional: reduce water by 1/2 cup if you don’t use)
1 cup of oats
2 cups water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup toasted unsweetened coconut flakes

What To Do
* Add water and oat into a small sauce pan and bring to a thick boil.
* Reduce to low medium heat and add coconut milk and mix it together
* Remove from stove and add in vanilla extract.
* In another pan toast coconut flakes for about 15 seconds till edges are brown.
* Serve.
